It’s time to get up

Wellness is not just a popular word thrown around on social media. No, wellness comes from God. To be well is to see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Your measure of wellness brings God glory.

I don’t know what you’re batting today or what sickness has found itself attached to you, I want you to know that God wants to make you well. It does the kingdom of God no good to be sick. It brings God no joy to see you sick. When Jesus went about healing the sick during His earthy ministry, His healing was completely restorative. And His healing ministry didn’t just end when He ascended to heaven. It’s still here.

Those who were not in their right mind. Those addicted to substances. Those riddled with fear and anxiety. Jesus came to heal them all and He is still healing them today for those who have the faith to believe.

Somewhere along the line, we detached ourselves from the healing work of Christ. I’m reminded when Jesus asked the paralyzed man if he wanted to be made whole. The man dodged the question and instead ranted about why he couldn’t get well. What Jesus told him in response was mind blowing. He told the man to get up.

There comes a time in our lives when we just got to GET UP. No matter how valid the points or the obstacles before us, talking about it isn’t not going to get us any closer to our goal.

“Yeah, I keep wanting to read my bible and spend time with God, but the demands of my life keep me from doing so.”

“Well, I’d love to have the time to start exercising and eating better, but my finances keep me from doing so.”

There is no perfect circumstance or perfect world where everything aligns and the timing is just right. It requires sacrifice. It requires getting uncomfortable.

So, the question is:

Are you getting up?

The woman with the issue of blood got up. She left her home and she headed straight into a crowd in search for a piece of Jesus’ clothes. “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over” Mark 5:34 NLT

I pray we have faith like the woman with the bleeding problem, because although she could have made a long list of legitimate reasons why she couldn’t be well, she believed and put her faith to the test. And because of that, her life was CHANGED.

May you live in the wellness that God desires for you today: Spiritually, mentally, and physically. I’m rooting for you.

Cookies & creamy shakeology recipes

What is Shakeology?

Shakeology is a deliciously crafted nutrition supplement made with real food. It’s honestly my favorite shake because of the ingredients and taste. I’ve tried many shakes and protein powders, but this one transcends them all. It’s low in sugar and loaded with fruits, vegetables, and superfoods such as Acerola cherry, Ashwagandha and Camucamu, yet tastes heavenly! It’s both healthy and super palatable. They also come in many flavors!

The flavor I’m taking about today is Cookies & Cream. I’m a huge cookies and cream fan and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this. Did I mention it’s vegan? So much to love about it already! Here’s some of the nutrition details you might want to know: In one scoop you can expect 16 g of protein, 250 mg of omega-3, 6 g of fiber, plus it is certified gluten-free and vegan {dairy-free} like I mentioned before. Let’s also add that each scoop has digestive enzymes prebiotics, probiotics, adaptogens, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

Additionally, I appreciate that Shakeology left out the artificial ingredients and helpful foods and ingredients for our bodies. It makes a delicious meal replacement or even if you are busy and on-the-go, this is a perfect way to stay on track with your healthy eating. It’s filling enough to use a snack or complete meal, any time of the day or night.

Shakeology comes in either a 30 day bag and can be purchased as a one-time purchase, but most of my customers benefit from flexible monthly subscription and Preferred Customer membership for continual discounts. Another great option is to combine with my the Beachbody On-Demand membership for a deeply discounted packaged deal!

Putting it into practice:

Speaking these affirmations is the the first step to living in the abundance God has for you. The next step is equally important, believing it! When we truly believe what you say, our actions follow. The bible says that faith without works is dead. But thank God the Holy Spirit is with you and your help to walk out your faith. May your faith thrive. I pray that you prosper with every word.

Mes de Mas program review

I finished my first workout program in two years! It felt good getting back to it, but I knew that if I was going to get the most out of it, I had to do it consistently. And I’m glad I did! This program made it easy to show up each day. Everyday is new and much of the moves I have never done before starting the program. It left me eager to press play the next day! Here’s an overview of the program and my experience.

What is Mes de Mas?

It is a 4 week, 6 day Spanish program by Idalis Velazquez. But it’s literally for everyone. More on that below. The workouts averaged 30 minutes and ranged from cardio, bodyweight training, and mobility. Yes, mobility! Those days were a much needed break, but still so good.

This program recommends you start with a detox called 3-Day Refresh (think lots of water, veggies, and fiber). I also recommend this and I started with a detox as well to reset my body and show my gut some love. This does have to be purchased separately. The Mes de Mas program as a whole is perfect for those looking for a sweaty routine, who have a desire to increase their strength, tone up, and use little to no equipment!

What materials are needed?

One of the main reasons why I chose do this program to get me back into the groove of exercise was the fact that it required zero equipment. Unless of course you count your exercise mat. The other reason I did this program I’ll share at the end of this review. Keep reading! Speaking of mats, I was blown away at how much you can do with it. We did so much more than just use it to pad our knees and elbows. I see them in a whole new way now! If you feel up to it, you can also grab a sandbag to up the ante. There were times when I used my medicine ball, which I loved, but would definitely get a sandbag next time.

Is the program only for Spanish speakers?

  • Program Quickstart Guide – The Quickstart Guide makes it easy to get going on day one. You’ll learn what to expect from Mes de Más, the equipment and tools you’ll need to do the workouts and track your progress, quick tips for building a healthier lifestyle, and much more.

  • Recipe Collection – Get the results you want without sacrificing the flavors you love! Enjoy some of your favorite Latin dishes with this collection of more than 50 delicious and healthy recipes.
  • Workout Calendar – Every workout is different, so make sure you’re following the program just as Idalis designed it. The calendar will help you stay on track and get the most out of all 24 high-energy Mes de Más workouts.

  • Spotify Playlist – Burn calories and strengthen your entire body to these hits ranging from hip hop to reggaetón!

You can choose Spanish with English subtitles or the English dubbed version. I enjoyed doing both. I felt like it was a great opportunity to brush up on my Spanish and learn a few new words. One of my favorites was Inhalar, Exhalar (Inhale, Exhale). I am not by any means fluent in Spanish, but I found it refreshing to hear a language other than English.

Don’t forget to follow Idalis on Instagram!

Who do you recommend this program for?

I recommend this to everyone, especially Spanish speakers. While it is a beginners program, I can say that it was challenging! With most movements I pushed myself by following everyone, but some days I took it slow and followed the Modifier. Don’t forget the Intensifier! They really showed you how each move could be taken up a notch. Idalis really knows how to push you to your limits and that was most empowering!

What does the meal plan look like?

The meal plan is neat because Idalis really took into consideration her Spanish-speaking audience. The meal plan includes over 50 Latin inspired meals and recipes with a healthy twist. I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for Latin food, the spice, the flavors, the everything!

What all is included included?

The program materials includes A LOT. These are available in both English and Spanish:

Would you do this program again?

Yes! I’m glad I took a chance at this program and gave it my all. It was just what I needed to get me back in the game. I look forward to revisiting Mes De Mas in the future! Now I’m off to hit the weights with a new program!

And because you’ve made it this far …

Okay, so the other reason why I chose to begin with Mes De Mas is because I loved the title! I don’t know if you know what it means, but it means Month of More! It just totally resonated with me and I just knew this was the program to start!

Thank you for reading my review! I had so much fun doing this program and I know that you would too.

Convinced that Mes de Mas is right for you? Start with the challenge pack!

Seasons of life

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

God has given us seasons or a time for every moment in our life. While every season is different, one thing is for sure: Nothing in our lives lasts forever. Some doors must come to a complete close in order for us to move on to what’s next.

I’ll be honest, I don’t like waiting in the hallway of change. I’m the type of person that wants to know what I’m doing at all times. I like calendars, planners, schedules, deadlines, and … control.

Seasons remind me that I can’t control everything. I can’t keep the summer from turning to fall. Some things just have to happen. Many times we think we know better than God. But we quickly find that what has to happen, has to happen regardless of how much we try to hold onto it.

Change is scary, I know. Change is hard, whether good or bad. And it’s okay to grieve what was.

I’m feeling the strain.

But God has plans for you to prosper. He has your future and your right now in His hand. And He won’t let you fall, despite what you see.

There’s a reason why God calls us to walk by faith and not by sight. We don’t understand what’s happening or what He’s doing as He’s doing it. Instead we jump to conclusions and think our life is over. In those moments of pain, we forget that God is a loving Father and will get us through.

No matter what you see around you, in front of you, or standing over you, trust that God will work it out for His glory and for your good.

Because He will.

Wanderings in the wilderness

“Then we turned and journeyed into the wilderness in the direction of the Red Sea, as the LORD told me. And for many days we traveled around Mount Seir. Then the LORD said to me, ‘You have been traveling around this mountain country long enough. Turn northward and command the people, “You are about to pass through the territory of your brothers, the people of Esau, who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So be very careful.”

– Deutoronomy 2:1-4 ESV

What mountain have you been circling around?

The Israelites were just 11 days away from their destination, their promised land. It was in arms reach. They could almost taste it. Yet, what was supposed to be a few days of travel turned into 40 years of dreams deferred.

So, how did these people go from days to years? The bible tells us exactly how. They doubted the strength of God. They doubted His protection from the giant-like people in their promised land. They were to rush in and take-over the land, but doubt got in the way.

And what happened next? They went in circles. They were steady going nowhere! How tragic to be moving, but accomplishing nothing. I don’t know if you have been feeling this way lately, but there was a time in my life where I was there.

Deuteronomy 1:2 says “Israel wandered in the wilderness” all that time. This wasn’t juts a cute quote, no. They wandered aimlessly. An entire generation missed their opportunity to posses the land that God had already gave them.

In turn, their children walked into that land without their parents. But how much more rich would that experience had been for the Israelites to have raised up their children, raised up a nation in a land flowing of milk and honey?

Whatever that obstacle, know that none of them could ever be bigger than God or too great for God to handle. With God on your side, with God leading your way, you are bound to succeed. It’s time you’ve turned northward. It’s time you’ve entered your promised land.

Question for you

What promises have you been doubting God about, because the obstacles seem impossible to face? But what if I told you that your obstacles are afraid of you and your potential?

A look at mercy

What is mercy?

One of our pastors spoke beautifully about this word today.

Here’s what I got from it:

Mercy is action. It’s not just a thought or feeling.

Mercy is intentional. It’s not a random act of kindness.

Mercy is love, kindness, and compassion. The most important one here is love, because we can’t show mercy without it!

Mercy is showing kindness and compassion to someone where you would normally be in a position to punish, harm or give consequences.

Why is this important?

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians‬ ‭2:4-7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God showed mercy to us when He sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay for our sins instead of us taking all the weight.

Christ showed us mercy when He sent His Spirit to make home with us to counsel and guide us through everything in this life.

God shows us mercy still, everyday.

And because He’s merciful, we can be too!

We ought to show it to ourselves, our home mates, friends and family, strangers, and those we have a difficult time with.

Everyone needs intentional mercy. We benefit from it. We grow from it. We’re better because of it.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Question for You

How can you show mercy today?
